BELOVED HEADTEACHER LEAVES FOR NEW ROLE IN PANAMA CITY

Staff and pupils at Laneshaw Bridge Primary School are set to bid a fond farewell to Jo Sharples, who will be leaving during the Summer.

Jo Sharples, who embarked on her career in teaching over 15 years ago as a student teacher, is leaving at the end of this term to take up a post as the headteacher of the primary phase at Kings College, Panama City.

Jo has been an integral part of the school’s development over the last five years and has been a key driver in the formation of The Pennine Trust.  She has created a school environment which aspires to develop ambitious, confident pupils with unrivalled knowledge and skills, to help them achieve their dreams.

In her time as headteacher Jo has transformed the curriculum at Laneshaw Bridge, ensuring it is underpinned by the latest educational research.  There has been a relentless focus on driving up standards and providing children with rich experiences as a fundamental part of their learning.

CEO of The Pennine Trust, John Tarbox had the following to say of Jo’s achievements and her contribution to Laneshaw Bridge over the last fifteen years:

“Jo has made a huge contribution to the development of outstanding provision at Laneshaw Bridge.  She is passionate about providing children with high quality education and has developed a strong culture of high expectations within the school.  Jo has the appreciation of pupils, staff and the wider community for her dedication over 15 years at Laneshaw Bridge and will be greatly missed.

Recruitment for the headship took place earlier this term with Gaynor Canty being appointed as the new headteacher.  Gaynor, who has worked at the school for over 25 years will continue to build on the strong foundations that Jo, Gaynor and the whole staff team have established.  Laneshaw Bridge Primary hopes to build new and exciting links with Kings College in Panama, taking advantage of this opportunity.
